Zara Ibrahimi, Belgian/Moroccan artist from Antwerp.

I am Zara Ibrahimi, a Belgian/Moroccan abstract artist, born in Wilrijk on November 22, 1970. I attended school Sint-Maria in Antwerp, department: Decorative Arts & Art History from 1985 to 1988. Then I attended the Academy of Fine Arts, drawing and fashion design from 1988 to 1993. While studying painting, I received rather a "classical" education, with an emphasis on form, technique and color. However, while My teachers Walter Vilain and Albert Szuskalski tried to lead me toward colorful abstraction, I discovered the possibilities and freedom of figuration. I soon became intrigued by the Belgian and European history of painting, making my creations simultaneously contemporary and seem to come from another time.

Zara's Arte : my work, my passion

Painting is a form of resistance. Certainly for me it means resisting sadness, fear, it means withdrawing to yourself to cultivate the feelings of the beautiful, which is then the effort to find harmony.

Painting is watering the well of color as a tool to communicate beauty and cultivate inner peace.

I paint emotions : passion, joy, sadness, love and frustrations ... , forgetting everything around me, everything is possible and allowed.

An urge to depict the right color, the right image and the right feeling. Composition, structure, relief, sometimes in sober tones, sometimes in a true explosion of color. Layer by layer, again and again, with a critical eye, taking and letting go.

A search for balance, a growth process, the pursuit of perfection.

Each painting has its own story, but everyone experiences it in their own way.

I want to touch you, move you, release feelings.... give you the possibility to fantasize, to escape from daily reality.

Welcome to my world.
