This castle erected at the beginning of the 17th century bears witness to the economic boom of the Habay-La-Vieille region thanks to the prosperity of the forges established in the region.
Other castles were built by industrialists from the region, such as the Château du Pont d'Oye or the Châtelet de Bologne.
It was Herman de Trappé, former mayor of Liège, who built this estate.
The castle was renovated in 1871 and today belongs to the Prince de Mérode family.
