Hendrik Gardyn was born in Deerlijk, West Flanders. He soon started to dream and think...

Initially under the influence of the CoBrA movement, he veiled his world with masks and facial expressions.

Explosive and grim use of color conceal the tender vulnerability that lies within this artist.

Professionally, he gave painting lessons in a special education school for 36 years, where he introduced students to the CoBrA movement, including the works of Corneille, which formed a good basis for teaching children the use of color and crafts. They liked the playful aspect of those works… and it provided them with extra motivation…
